138 There’s a YouTube channel I watch devoted to the classic version of Match Game as well as its various personalities and related game shows. It’s one of my comfort watches. I can always turn on an episode, playlist, or a live stream and know that I’m going to get some laughs out of it.One of the episodes I recently watched included a question about Gerald Ford not wanting blank at the 1976 Republican National Convention. The producers were looking for answers along the lines of other Republican figures critical of Ford, but the contestant, thinking of the Democratic Party’s donkey mascot, replied “jackasses.”And quite honestly, that’s the term that comes to mind when I see liberals and neocons (which are basically the same thing at this point; both Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans) still using the name “Elonia” in reference to Elon Musk now: they’re a bunch of jackasses.Yes, it was mildly amusing when it was first coined in the context of Musk apparently replacing Melania Trump in the public life of the (illegitimate) President-Elect. We all know that Melania hates being the First Lady and wants nothing to do with politics, and Musk’s presence in her absence led to the obvious joke. It got a chuckle out of me when I first saw it, and that was that. But for people like MeidasTouch Network’s Ron Filipkowski to dig in and continue using it well after the initial humor of it wore off is simply jackass behavior. In fact, by my reading, it’s been four whole days since Filipkowski actually called him anything other than Elonia on Bluesky. At this point, it’s pegging the cringeometer and has basically crossed the line into the blatant transphobia of misgendering someone you disagree with just because you think it’s an insult. In fact, one of the content reporting services that Bluesky users rely upon for moderation purposes has, indeed, labeled Filipkowski’s account as transphobic. The tags “Transmisogyny” and “Transphobia (General)” have been added to Ron Filipkowski’s Bluesky profile through a content reporting service that specializes in alerting the public to accounts that engage in transphobic activity. For those of you who think I’m picking on Filipkowski or singling him out unfairly, I’ll note that he’s certainly far from the only person on Bluesky or other social media sites using the name, but he does seem to be the most prominent Bluesky user promulgating it. And some of those skeets have been shared by politically active celebrities like Jeri Ryan, who I don’t think wants to be giving voice to even casual hatred when a not-insignificant portion of her fanbase are trans women who identify with the Seven of Nine story. But don’t just take my word for it. Ask some women, themselves. https://bsky.app/profile/cumslutress.love/post/3lbr4p7xxs227 this whole "elonia" meme is so gross and transphobic what the fuck is wrong with yall— Talia Lavin (@swordsjew.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T00:40:43.581Z The Elonia bit is tremendously unfunny and extremely cringe.— Katelyn Burns (@transscribe.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T06:14:06.520Z "elonia" jokes seriously bordering on "attack helicopter" territory— Amy Ash (@lolennui.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T00:37:49.324Z https://bsky.app/profile/jtp.bsky.social/post/3lbr4n3pne22i “No you see the transphobic/misogynistic insult of calling musk ‘elonia’ is okay cause he’s a bad person”…thats still transphobic and misogynistic— Rose Schmits (@roseschmits.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T07:44:18.199Z And I’m far from the only man to be calling it out: Bro drop this Elonia shit it's gross.— Taka Hanazawa (Yuletide Wankster) (@takahanazawa.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T00:18:20.612Z I have nothing but contempt for Musk but I’m gonna instablock anyone who decides making him a woman or trans (“Elonia”) is a clever insult.— Bill Corbett (@billcorbett.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T04:09:14.890Z the “Elonia Musk” thing rests entirely on “ha ha what if he was a woman” and that is so self-evidently transphobic and misogynistic that I do not understand calling yourself progressive and unironically using it as an insult— Micah (@rincewind.run) 2024-11-25T00:46:36.865Z Sure calling Elon Musk Elonia and posting AI pictures of him as a woman to try and score cheap points is sexist and transphobic but have you considered that it's also supremely cringe?— The Serfs (@theserfstv.bsky.social) 2024-11-25T03:23:48.348Z Wait, leftist people were calling Musk “Elonia”? Maybe don’t be sexist and transphobic and an asshole when going after the sexist transphobic asshole guy? Seems pretty clear cut to me.— Ethan “Fink-Nottle” Kocak (@ethankocak.com) 2024-11-25T01:57:56.653Z And with that last skeet, I’ll take the opportunity to point out the difference: Filipkowski and the people engaging in this behavior are not leftists. They’re liberals. Or neoconservatives; which, again: same difference at this point. Liberals like these jackasses are just-right-of-center moderates who allow themselves to get dragged further and further to the right by the political and social demands of the right because they have no real moral compass. They’re the people who compromise for the sake of compromise. They’re the ones who “follow the established norms” and end up getting trans people kicked out of the military and Capitol bathrooms or brown people rounded up and put in cages regardless of citizenship status or, y’know, just basic human rights altogether, just because they want to be seen as upholding the moral standards of “the proper process.”Leftists, on the other hand, actually stand for things. You may not agree with what they stand for, or how, and they don’t all agree with each other on those things, themselves. But they state their positions and they hold to them, and they call out wrongdoing when they see it. They don’t make exceptions for a racist joke just because it’s about someone who is a racist. But I do not have a high enough number of extremities on which to count how many times I’ve heard a liberal do exactly that. And this falls into exactly the same category. If you don’t hang around liberal or leftist circles, you may not be aware of the term “shitlib.” It’s a conjugation of “shitty liberal.” It basically refers to this very type: someone who normally engages in left-leaning (relatively speaking) rhetoric and performative shows of solidarity, but when the rubber meets the road, they either turn and walk away or become outright hostile to the people they were supposedly standing in solidarity with.I’m 100% confident in declaring, for the record and as a matter of indisputable fact:All libs are shitlibs. It’s merely a matter of when and how they reveal themselves.
