Socha Doubles Down, and My Response

NOTE: The is the second of several posts dealing with the topic of Robert Socha’s decision to participate in January 6th, 2021’s attempted coup and his subsequent rejection of reality. You can read the previous one here, and a follow-up to this one here.

To his credit, Robert Socha — seditionist and member of the Hillsdale City Council — came to Hillsdale’s Hot Debates to defend himself.

It’s a bold move, Cotton; let’s see it if pays off for him.

Oh no baby!  What is u doin???

And here’s my response, which is copied and reformatted from that thread:

Let’s go by this bit by bit, because you’re not going to lie to everyone here.

“your thoughts concerning me are grossly mistaken.”

No, they are not.

“Your reply is pure conjecture.”

No, it is not.

“As I have stated through multiple sources, I went to D.C. on January 6, 2021, to petition my government for a redress of grievances.”

No, you did not. You went to commit sedition. As I have stated multiple times in multiple places, and as has been shown by numerous people, groups, and news outlets who have gathered the evidence into countless videos, articles, and audio coverage, January 6th’s attempted coup was ALWAYS an event intended to violate the Constitution and overthrow the legitimate government of the United States. There is no other logical, rational, or valid way to describe a demand to simply ignore Article II, Section 1, Clause 3. Sedition does not require violence. Conspiracy to commit sedition — which is the crime you committed — only requires participating in the plot. I proved this in an earlier writing by citing the very law in question. You engaged in criminal activity and betrayed this country.

“The manipulation of the election process in 2020 grieves me,”

It didn’t happen. You are aggrieved of something that, in all reality, did not happen.

“and it grieves me further at how the government and courts failed to investigate thoroughly.”

They DID investigate it thoroughly, and there was nothing there to find. This has been perhaps the single MOST-investigated election in all of human history, and there was no irregularity in it besides the normal minor attempts to commit ballot fraud, all of which were caught (as they always are), none of which affected the vote or the outcome of it, and all of which happens in pretty much every election, which means the word “irregularity” is something of a misnomer. In short, you’re seeing a passing jet and thinking it’s a U.F.O. and we’re all going to be abducted. It’s insanity.

“This failure is why I did not want Congress to certify the results on January 6.”

No, that’s not the reason. You didn’t want Congress to certify the results because you have a ridiculous and irrational fear of Democrats. Because you’re a far-right authoritarian, you equate their center-right authoritarianism with far-left authoritarianism. You believed that Donald Trump — a failed businessman who ran for president to escape prosecution for his financial crimes and make as much money from the title as he could — was your savior from those “evil” economic moderates (which is hilarious, considering he wanted so desperately to be one of them, and they saw right through him, so he ran as a Republican instead). You wanted Congress to violate the Constitution and install HIM as president over the will of the American voting public. THAT’S why you didn’t want Congress to certify the results.

“It wasn’t because I want to overthrow the government,”

I just proved that it was.

“and to insinuate that I do is insulting to your character.”

My character isn’t insulted. My integrity and steadfast defense of and adherence to the Constitution and the principles of liberty is fully intact. You committed sedition and demanded that the voters’ will be overturned. I stand against your would-be tyranny. Character is what compels me to do so.

“You know better. I want integrity.”

I know better than to fall for THAT line of crap, Robert. If you wanted integrity, you would have demanded that the vote be certified. If you wanted integrity, you would have stayed home. If you wanted integrity, you would have demanded that Trump resign long ago. You have no desire for integrity. You HAVE no integrity. You’re blathering lies and attempting to shame and scorn those who call you out for it. That’s not integrity, Robert. That’s a child throwing a temper tantrum because he knows he’s wrong, but he doesn’t want to admit it.

“I love this country and the Liberty we so woefully take for granted.”

Your words and actions say otherwise.

“I have served her militarily and civically.”

So did Benedict Arnold.

“For you to question my patriotism and declare your superiority is arrogantly divisive, only meant to castigate me negatively.”

No, what’s arrogantly divisive is claiming to be a patriot while demanding the Constitution be tossed out in favor of your baseless lies and conspiracy theories.

“There was an undeniable couple-hour span where violent people smashed windows and broke into the U.S. Capitol Building.”

HALF A DAY, ROBERT. The terrorist attack lasted well into the evening. We all watched it unfold as your co-conspirators live-streamed their crimes on social media. The fact that even now you’re still attempting to lie about the day’s events goes to show how delusional you truly are.

“I might be inclined to say that calling the event riotous could pertain to the few hours people stormed the steps, and some unruly perpetrators destroyed property and trespassed.”

Not to mention the five people, including a police officer, that they murdered. “Some unruly perpetrators” numbered in the hundreds, we all saw them scaling the walls like a zombie horde.

And NOW you’re admitting that it at least reached the level of a riot? Why, because you know I won’t allow you to lie anymore? See how that works, Robert? Accountability. This is why it’s mandatory.

“Still, it is duplicitous to use the word in describing the events of January 6 and at the same time define the behavior of the violent protests of the past ten months as ‘mostly peaceful.'”

There were no “violent protests” in the past ten months. All violence that occurred around those protests was caused by white supremacists who were attempting to discredit the protestors — as proven by local news reports on the arrests made in each of those cities. Look it up.

“It is a justifiable comparison,”

No, it is not.

“especially in light of the countless Trump rallies where tens of thousands of people from coast-to-coast peacefully assembled to cheer on the presidency.”

You mean the events where protestors and journalists were assaulted? One of which where Corey Lewandowski famously assaulted a female journalist? Several of which where protestors were beaten up by the crowd? At several of which your fuhrer encouraged the violence? At one of which he even offered to pay for the legal fees?

Spare me your “peaceful assembly” lie, Robert.

“Now, all of a sudden, those same people demanding truth in government”

Your ilk has never demanded truth in government.

“are the instigators of all things violent and insurrectionist.”

Not all things. Just this one. Be sure for your own sake that it isn’t more.

“I say that is the epitome of gaslighting.”

No, the epitome of gaslighting is you telling people that they didn’t see what they saw or hear what they heard. In fact, that’s LITERALLY the definition of gaslighting. Look it up.

“Your pompous dictation toward my future behavior is shameless.”

Well on THAT we agree, because you’re right: I do not feel, nor do I have any reason TO feel, shame over holding you accountable and being pompous about it, because I AM a better person than you are. You committed sedition. I did not. You betrayed this country. I did not. You belong in prison. I do not. It’s not ego that prompts me to feel this way, Robert, it’s simple fact.

“You purport to defend free speech and then demand I refrain from speaking freely. Like I said, duplicitous.”

I have never once demanded that you refrain from speaking freely. I am holding you accountable for your lies and your traitorous behavior. You can say whatever you want as long as it doesn’t cause harm. That’s how the Harm Principle works. You crossed the line into causing harm. You will now face the consequences of your actions. There’s no duplicity on my part. My position on that has been clear for decades.

“In response to your assertion that I was name-calling: please show me where I am guilty of that accusation.”

You’re painting everyone who disagrees with you as a “liberal,” which you clearly consider to be an insult, given that the context in which you’re painting with that overly-broad brush is a misinformed and error-laden form letter response accusing them of having limited vocabularies and faux-sarcastically “reminding” them of things which are either only partially true or are complete lies. The entire piece was meant as an attack on the intelligence and wisdom of people who see that you did something wrong and dared to tell you so. The fact that you’re even trying to pull the same crap with me tells me that you’d call me a liberal when I’ve demonstrated in overwhelmingly clear and abundant terms that I’m anything but. “Liberal” is a slur in your mind. So yes, you ARE engaging in name-calling.

“And as to the other claim that I ‘pin this on liberals,’ outside of the piece’s title, which I did not write, please reveal my transgression.”

If you didn’t approve of the title, then why haven’t you told Mychal to change it? Surely he would do so if he understood you felt it was misrepresenting the message you were attempting to deliver.

I’ll tell you why, Robert: because it DOESN’T misrepresent the message you were attempting to deliver. It PERFECTLY represents the message you were attempting to deliver. Every implied accusation you made in that piece by backhanded compliment and reverse psychology was a direct representation about your beliefs regarding the stereotypical “liberal.”

Don’t piss on my boot and tell me it’s raining, Robert.

“I am proud to represent Ward 4 on the city council, a non-partisan position, and will necessarily continue, and by the grace of God, run for reelection in 4 years.”

No, you won’t.
